In the first quarter of 2019, Kingfisher reported sales of £2.8 billion up 1.7% in constant currency, LFL(1) up 0.8%, and Romania delivered good sales growth. Total sales in Romania grew by +10.1%.
IKEA
IKEA, the Swedish retailer of furniture and interior decorations, announced the opening of the Pallady store on 24th of June situated in the Eastern of Bucharest, on Theodor Pallady, no. 57. The Association of the Biggest Commercial Networks in Romania announced the entering in the organization of the 18th member: IKEA.
JYSK
JYSK Romania, the scandinavian retailer of furniture and home decorations, part of JYSK Nordic, opened the 75th store in the country, in Husi.
DEDEMAN
Dedeman Group, that belongs to Dragos and Adrian Paval, is making the final steps in taxing the ex industrial platform Letea SA Bacau, where it should be developed a business hub.
Leroy Merlin
Leroy Merlin introduced a varied range of objects coordinated chromatic in the decorations district. Also, the retailer, the second player on the local DIY market, will make the first tests of the click & collect services in September 2019 in Cluj-Napoca and Craiova stores, to be eventually implemented in all of the stores from Romania, according to Frédéric Lamy, General Manager of Leroy Merlin Romania.
Doraly
Doraly Expo Market, one of the biggest commercial parks specialised in home articles and food products in Romania, rented one of the 3 pavilions opened by JYSK.
Dr. Soil
The team behind Dr. Soil, a romanian gardening brand, has an entire department that research the online gardening communities and work to offer the customers what they look for and ask for, while exposing their needs and interests.
Green Project
The company Green Project from Iasi activated since 2003 in the distribution of gardening and home&deco products and in the production of substrates, fertilizers and natural treatments for interior and exterior plants.
Romanian gardening market
Under these circumstances, in 2018 sales in the romanian gardening sector recorded 12% retail value growth to reach RON631 million (about €140 million), higher than the Eastern European regional average of 7%, according to Euromonitor International.
European Retail Park – What’s Next
Romania was ranked fifth at a European level in 2018 regarding the deliveries of retail spaces in retail parks, being overtaken in this hierarchy only by France, Spain, Great Britain and Italy, according to the European Retail Park – What’s Next report, realised by the consultancy company Cushman & Wakefield.
