In 2019, LEROY MERLIN, the second player on the romanian DIY market, increased sales with over 20%, year in which the French retailer registered over 12 millions clients in its stores. Also, the retailer made the first steps to omnichannel transformation and stabilized the company regarding the work force.
In december 2019, Leroy Merlin implemented the click & collect service in 2 stores from Craiova and Cluj, being a first step in the omnichannel tranformation that the retailer aim for 2020. Reaching this objective, the retailer equipped each employee with a performant smartphone to support everyday operational activities.
Also, in 2019, the retailer consolidated the stability of the company regarding work force, in the conditions of a market which is still unstable. The retailer launched the training program for the company management and started a new strategy for choosing the new product ranges.
The company progresed faster than market
For Leroy Merlin, the year 2019 was full of challanges. The business grew with over 20%, the company registered over 12 millions clients in its stores and progresed faster than the market. Reaching this objectives, the retailer focused the efforts on offering the smallest price, optimization of the functional costs and on developing new range of products meant to support the complete projects of the clients.
In 2019, Leroy Merlin exceeded the turnover of half a billion euros, and the estimates of Frédéric Lamy, CEO Leroy Merlin Romania, are that in 2020, the growth will be double-digit.
Also, Leroy Merlin will implement in every store the Click & Collect service, in march 2020 and will make the first steps in e-commerce in february 2020. Romanian retail market will have an upward trend this year, and the retailer is based on the continuity of a developing DIY market, because romanians invest more in home renovation and continue to acquire real estate assets.
For 2020, Leroy Merlin proposes to exceed its objectives and focuses on continuing the personal development of the employees and on the safety offered in the stores.
Beside Leroy Merlin Pallady store, from Bucharest, which will be open in the next months, the french retailer just started working on the 19th store of the romanian network, in Targoviste city.
